Akeem Busari appointed head coach of Nigeria U17 girls team

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has approved the appointment of Akeem Busari as the new Head Coach of the U17 Girls National Team, Flamingos.
The decision followed a recommendation by the Federation’s Technical and Development Committee.
Busari brings extensive experience and a deep understanding of women’s football, succeeding Coach Bankole Olowookere, who led the Flamingos to a bronze medal at the 2022 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in India.
His immediate responsibility is to guide the Flamingos through the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup, which will be hosted in Morocco.
The team is set to face the winner of the preliminary tie between Niger Republic and Guinea, with the first leg scheduled away from home in the third week of next month.
Currently, Busari serves as the Head Coach of Pacesetter Queens Football Club, Ibadan, and will bring his expertise to the national team as they prepare for the upcoming international competition.
