Man kills 3 siblings in Ondo
Panic and grief have gripped the Okitipupa community in Ondo State following a shocking incident in which a 28-year-old man, Femi Agbeye, reportedly murdered his three siblings with a machete.
The horrifying event occurred on Tuesday, leaving neighbours in disbelief and mourning the tragic loss of life.
The father of the suspect and the victims reported the attack to the police, stating that Femi Agbeye carried out the brutal act in his absence.
The victims have been identified as Bose Agbeye, aged 20, Dupe Agbeye, 7, and Blessing Agbeye, 5, all members of the same family.
“Upon receipt of the report, operatives of the Command swiftly mobilised to the scene, where the victims were found lifeless,” the spokesman for the Ondo Police Command, Abayomi Jimoh, said in a statement.
He added, “Their remains were evacuated and deposited at the State Specialist Hospital Morgue, Okitipupa, for preservation and autopsy.”
Jimoh disclosed that the suspect was apprehended on the same day and would be charged to court upon completion of investigations.
Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, Adebowale Lawal, strongly condemned the act, describing it as heinous and shocking.
He assured the public that justice would be pursued diligently and called on residents to remain calm.
He further urged members of the community to cooperate with law enforcement agencies, providing any information that could aid ongoing investigations into the case.
The gruesome event has left the community in a state of shock as neighbours gathered to mourn the deceased, highlighting the ripple of fear and sadness caused by the violent act.
