Atiku condemns rising insecurity across Nigeria

Former Vice President, , has described continued attacks on innocent citizens by terrorists as a grave threat to Nigeria’s peace, unity, and stability.

In a statement posted on his X handle on Saturday, the former presidential candidate strongly condemned recent violent incidents across parts of the country, warning that such acts, if left unchecked, could undermine national cohesion.

He said, “I condemn, in unequivocal terms, the continued acts of terrorism and brigandage that threaten the peace, unity, and stability of our nation.”

Atiku also stated that attacks on civilians represent a “grave affront to our shared humanity,” stressing that such violence must never be allowed to define the identity of Nigerians as a people.

He extended condolences to families affected by the attacks and expressed solidarity with communities that have suffered losses in recent days.

“The foremost responsibility of any government is the protection of lives and property.

”It is therefore imperative that renewed urgency, coordination, and resolve be brought to bear in confronting this challenge and restoring public confidence,” he added.

The former Vice President also acknowledged international support in the fight against terrorism, noting that partnerships, including assistance from the United States, remain vital in addressing global security threats.

Atiku expressed optimism that Nigeria would overcome its security challenges, saying collective resolve is necessary to defeat terrorism and restore lasting peace.

The statement comes amid a series of violent incidents across the country, including attacks in parts of Niger State, and other northern regions, which have left several civilians and security personnel dead.

Meanwhile, President has reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening the country’s security architecture, promising sustained investment in the armed forces to combat terrorism and banditry.
