IBB describes Mokwa flood as an act of God

Former Nigerian Military President, General Ibrahim Babangida, has expressed his condolences to the people of Mokwa and Niger State over the recent flood disaster that claimed more than 200 lives.
Babangida said this when he received a state government delegation led by the Deputy Governor, Yakubu Garba, on a Sallah homage at his Uphill Residence, Minna.
While commiserating with the people of Mokwa and the entire Niger State over the recent flood disaster in Mokwa Local Government Area, Babangida appealed to the residents of the state to continue to pray for the souls of the deceased.
IBB said, ”What happened in Mokwa is unfortunate, but it is ordained by Allah. It is beyond our powers, and this is why we should all continue to pray for the souls of the deceased.”
He acknowledged that the flood was beyond human control, saying, “What happened in Mokwa is unfortunate but an act of God.”
The former president commended Governor Umaru Bago’s administration for its developmental strides and called for their sustenance.
He assured the government of his continued support, emphasising the importance of collaboration and progress in the state.
The state government delegation, led by Deputy Governor Yakubu Garba, visited Babangida to seek his blessings and fatherly advice.
Garba appreciated Babangida’s fatherly role and acknowledged his diligent service to the country.
He assured Babangida that the state government would not fail him and would continue to appreciate his contributions to the nation.
