UK lauds Tinubu’s economic reforms, strengthens trade ties with Nigeria

The United Kingdom has commended President Bola Tinubu’s economic and trade initiatives, describing them as bold, brave, and positive.
British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Richard Montgomery, expressed admiration for Tinubu’s administration during a courtesy visit to First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu at the State House on Monday in Abuja.
According to the British envoy, the UK government sees a lot of positivity in Nigeria’s economy, particularly new opportunities being created by the difficult but necessary reforms undertaken by President Tinubu
Montgomery praised Tinubu’s reforms, citing new opportunities for growth and enhanced trade partnerships between the UK and Nigeria.
The British envoy commended RHI’s efforts in empowering women in key areas such as education, health, and humanitarian services.
Montgomery noted the UK government’s interest in Nigeria’s ongoing constitutional amendment process, particularly the proposal for special seats for women in the National Assembly.
Responding Senator Oluremi Tinubu reaffirmed the government’s commitment to addressing Nigerians’ challenges through RHI, focusing on women empowerment in the informal sector.
She acknowledged the dwindling number of women in the National Assembly and pledged to support efforts to boost female representation, emphasising the need to identify capable representatives who can effectively serve the people.
”I believe we can help each other, if we really show concern. RHI focuses also on women empowerment in the informal sector.
”These are the ones we are touching their lives directly, ” she said.
She agreed with her guests that the number of women in the National Assembly is dwindling and promised to join the ongoing process to improve the numbers.
According to Mrs Tinubu, we have to really know the right people to represent us, who can really do the work and that is what we have to enlighten our women about.
