Charlie Kirk fatally shot at Utah Valley University event

U.S. Right-Wing Activist, Charlie Kirk has died after being shot at a university event in Utah.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at Utah Valley University, where Kirk was speaking as part of his “American Comeback Tour”.
Kirk was shot in the neck while addressing a crowd of over 3,000 people in the university’s outdoor quad area.
A single shot was fired from approximately 200 feet away, believed to be from the roof of a campus building.
Kirk was immediately taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
President Donald Trump confirmed Kirk’s death, describing him as “legendary” and saying he was a “great guy from top to bottom”.
Trump’s condolences were echoed by various leaders, including Vice President JD Vance, who called Kirk “a genuinely good guy and a young father”.
Former U.S. Representative Gabrielle Giffords, who survived a shooting in 2011, expressed horror at the incident, emphasising that political violence has no place in the U.S.
The FBI and Utah Department of Public Safety are leading the investigation, with a manhunt underway for the suspect.
Two individuals were initially taken into custody but were later released after interrogation, with no ties to the shooting found.
Utah Valley University has canceled classes and activities until further notice, citing shock and sadness over the incident.
Charlie Kirk was a prominent figure in conservative circles, known for founding Turning Point USA, a youth movement that became the largest group of young conservatives in the U.S.
He was a close ally of President Trump and helped fuel his political comeback.
Kirk’s activism and views sparked controversy, with some critics labeling him a “charismatic Christian nationalist” who promoted extremist ideas.
