President Tinubu nominates Dr. Doro as minister from Plateau

President Bola Tinubu has nominated Dr. Bernard Mohammed Doro from Plateau State for ministerial appointment, following the vacancy created by Professor Nentawe Yilwatda’s emergence as National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in July.

The nomination was conveyed to the Senate in a formal letter from the President, according to a statement issued Tuesday by Presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga.

Dr. Doro is expected to replace Yilwatda, who previously served as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction before assuming leadership of the ruling party.

Born on January 23, 1969, in Kwall, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, Dr. Doro brings over two decades of diverse professional experience spanning clinical practice, pharmaceutical management, strategic leadership, and community engagement in both Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

He holds degrees in Pharmacy and Law, an MBA with a focus on IT-driven business strategy, and a Master’s in Advanced Clinical Practice.

He is also an Independent Prescriber and Advanced Clinical Practitioner with hands-on experience in urgent care, walk-in centres, GP surgeries, and hospitals within the UK’s National Health Service (NHS).

Beyond his medical career, Dr Doro has been active in youth mentorship and community development initiatives both in the diaspora and in local Nigerian communities.

His nomination is subject to Senate confirmation.
