Niger Delta youth council vows partnership with PINL to protect oil infrastructure

The leadership of the Niger Delta Youth Council Worldwide (NDYC-W) has pledged to work closely with Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL) to safeguard oil facilities across the Niger Delta, the council announced on Monday.
Speaking at a stakeholders’ engagement meeting, the NDYC-W emphasised the need for stronger security measures in the region, highlighting the importance of collaboration between local communities and security agencies.
In a communique signed by Engr. Jator Abido, National Coordinator of the council, the group praised the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and its board, chaired by Hon. Chiedu Ebie and Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, for their developmental efforts in the area.
The council also commended President Bola Tinubu for appointing a new Minister of Defence and called on youths in the region to actively support security operations to protect critical infrastructure.
Abido further warned non-indigenous groups involved in violence—including herders, bandits, and cult gangs—that such activities would not be tolerated in the Niger Delta.
The communique extended condolences to the Bayelsa State Government on the recent passing of the Deputy Governor. NDYC-W also commended PINL for its community engagement programs and expressed a commitment to partnership in securing pipelines and other oil assets.
In a move to strengthen communication and regional awareness, the NDYC-W launched the maiden edition of the Niger Delta Chronicle, a monthly publication designed to serve as a prominent voice for the region’s concerns and developments.
Through these initiatives, the council hopes to foster peace, protect local resources, and encourage coexistence among communities during the festive season and beyond.
