Nigerian businessman Dr. Leemon Ikpea granted private audience with Pope at Vatican

Leading Nigerian industrialist and philanthropist, Dr. Leemon Ikpea, has been granted a private audience with the Pope at the Vatican, an experience described by his associates as deeply spiritual and inspiring.

Ikpea, the founding chairman and CEO of the Lee Group of Companies, visited Rome as part of his annual spiritual devotion and his commitment to the Catholic faith.

Born in Edo State, he is a prominent figure in Nigeria’s indigenous oil and gas technology sector.

During the private meeting, the Pope reportedly prayed for Ikpea and Nigeria, calling for peace, unity, and national development.

He also commended Ikpea’s philanthropic contributions, highlighting his sustained support for human development initiatives both in Nigeria and internationally.

An associate who accompanied Ikpea described the encounter as “humbling and uplifting,” emphasising that it reinforced his Catholic values and dedication to service, even amidst his corporate success.

The associate noted that Ikpea has maintained strong ties to his hometown of Ewatto, Edo State, while expanding his business and social investments.

Ikpea is widely recognised for his support of education, healthcare, and community development programs across Nigeria.
