Tinubu urges Akume, Alia to reconcile ahead of 2027

President Bola Tinubu has appealed to Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume and Benue Governor Hyacinth Alia to settle their differences to promote peace and development.

Vice-President Kashim Shettima represented the president at the Progressives Governors Forum’s Renewed Hope Ambassadors Summit held at the State House Conference Hall.

The summit, themed “One Party, One Message, One Mobilization Framework,” focused on strengthening governance communication and national cohesion.

Tinubu stressed that unity in Benue is vital, urging both leaders to prioritise collaboration over personal disagreements.

He highlighted the federal government’s shift from stabilisation in 2025 to accelerated growth in 2026, anchored by a N58.18 trillion budget emphasising security and capital projects.

The president noted fiscal reforms designed to protect vulnerable citizens, encourage enterprise, and ensure transparency in public finances.

He pointed to early signs of success, including falling inflation, stable fuel prices, and a strengthened national currency.

Tinubu emphasised the role of Renewed Hope Ambassadors in engaging citizens, explaining policies, countering misinformation, and relaying community feedback to government.

Ambassadors were tasked to extend outreach to wards, markets, and campuses, ensuring citizens are informed and consulted on government actions.

Gôvernor Hope Uzodimma, chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, pledged subnational support for federal reforms and stressed coordinated policy implementation.

APC National Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda highlighted disciplined grassroots mobilisation as essential for translating governance into loyalty and securing electoral success in 2027.

The summit ended with a commitment to unity, reform, and institutional continuity to ensure stability and progress across Nigeria.
