Ndokwa group hails approval of key road projects

A political advocacy group in Ndokwa land, NdokwaForward, has praised Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for approving several strategic road projects aimed at improving infrastructure and boosting development in Ndokwa East and Ndokwa West Local Government Areas.

The group described the decision as a major step toward enhancing connectivity and accelerating socio-economic growth across communities in the Ndokwa region.

In a statement jointly signed by Rt. Hon. Samuel Osasa, Dr. Omordi George Ugbomah, and Chief Isaac Onyesom, NdokwaForward noted that the projects form part of the Delta State Government’s ambitious N400 billion infrastructure development programme designed to expand road networks and stimulate economic activities across the state.

According to the group, the newly approved projects include the construction of Ogbedigbo Afor Road with a spur linking Obi Palace Road, the Ebendo–Iyasele–Ashaka Road, the Ogbe-Ogume–Ebendo Road Phase One, and key access roads leading to the Kwale Free Trade Zone.

NdokwaForward said the road developments were expected to significantly improve transportation within the region, facilitate trade and commerce, and strengthen economic ties among communities in Ndokwa land.

The group also commended the Deputy Governor of Delta State, Monday Onyeme, for his role in ensuring that the Ndokwa area was adequately represented in the state’s large-scale infrastructure programme.

According to the statement, the inclusion of the Ndokwa road projects in the state government’s development agenda reflects the administration’s commitment to balanced development and recognition of the strategic economic importance of the Ndokwa region.

“These projects are not just roads; they represent hope and new opportunities for the people of Ndokwa,” the group stated, adding that improved road infrastructure would transform movement across communities and support local economic growth.

NdokwaForward further explained that the modernisation of the road network would ease the movement of agricultural produce and other goods, attract new investments to the area, and provide better access to markets and commercial centres.

The group also called on community leaders, stakeholders and contractors handling the projects to work closely with the state government to ensure that the projects are delivered on schedule and meet expected standards.

It reaffirmed its commitment to promoting unity, development and progress in Ndokwa land, expressing confidence that the new road projects would open a new chapter of growth and prosperity for the region.
