Oluremi Tinubu advocates compassion at Lambeth palace

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu addressed a gathering at Lambeth Palace on Thursday, calling for a world guided by compassion, love, and empathy.
Her visit to the historic palace in central London coincided with the second day of President Bola Tinubu’s two-day state visit to the United Kingdom.
According to her media aide, Busola Kukoyi, Mrs. Tinubu attended a church service at the palace and was formally received by Anthony Poggo, Secretary General of the Anglican Communion worldwide.
In her brief reflection, the First Lady emphasised that addressing contemporary global challenges requires not only policies and strategies but also actions rooted in love and compassion.
Lambeth Palace, the official residence of the Archbishop of Canterbury, provided the backdrop for Mrs. Tinubu’s engagements with religious leaders.
She met representatives of the Church of England, including Bishop Rose Hudson-Wilkin and Bishop Emma Ineson.
During the visit, the First Lady also led a special prayer for the royal family and global leaders.
After touring sections of the palace, she met with officials from the Anglican Communion office and the Anglican Alliance, which serves 42 Anglican churches worldwide, and signed the visitor’s register.
Her presence underscored the importance of interfaith dialogue and humanitarian leadership in tackling global challenges.
The state visit also included meetings between President Tinubu, the First Lady, and members of the British royal family. On Wednesday, they met King Charles III and Queen Camilla, and were received by Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales at Windsor.
King Charles hosted the Tinubus at a state banquet at Windsor Castle, marking a key moment in strengthening Nigeria–UK diplomatic and cultural relations.
Mrs. Tinubu’s engagement at Lambeth Palace highlighted the role of faith and compassion in global leadership, reinforcing Nigeria’s commitment to humanitarian values on the international stage.
