Fubara extends Eid-el-Fitr greetings, calls for unity, religious harmony

The Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has extended warm felicitations to Muslim faithful in the state and across Nigeria on the occasion of Eid-el-Fitr, urging citizens to embrace unity, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence.
In a press statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi, the governor congratulated Muslims on the successful completion of Ramadan, describing the season as one marked by sacrifice, devotion, and spiritual renewal.
Fubara, in his goodwill message, prayed that the celebration would usher in joy, peace, and harmony among Nigerians, regardless of religious, ethnic, or cultural differences.
“On behalf of the government and people of Rivers State, I wish all Muslim faithful a joyous Eid-el-Fitr. May this occasion strengthen our bonds of peace, unity, and mutual respect among all faiths,” the governor stated.
He further encouraged Nigerians to uphold shared values such as compassion, forgiveness, and understanding in their daily interactions, stressing the importance of national cohesion in a diverse society.
Eid-el-Fitr, one of Islam’s most significant religious festivals, marks the end of Ramadan—the holy month dedicated to fasting, prayer, and charity among Muslims worldwide.
To commemorate the 2026 celebration, the Federal Government declared March 19 and March 20 as public holidays, allowing Muslim faithful and other Nigerians to observe the festival.
The governor urged continued promotion of interfaith harmony and peaceful coexistence, emphasizing that unity remains essential for sustainable development in Rivers State and the nation at large.
