Gas turbine not yet supplying power to Yenagoa

A circulating statement has claimed that the newly referenced gas turbine project has not yet begun supplying electricity to , urging the public to disregard what it described as “eye service media aides” reports.

According to the claims, four feeders connected to the gas turbine station are yet to be activated, as their breakers have not been linked to existing power transmission lines.

It was alleged that the breaker located in front of the former Commissioners’ Quarters in Opolo, near the PHEDC office, remains unconnected to the power network.

Similarly, another breaker situated at the Opolo Roundabout axis along the express road was said to be awaiting connection to the main power lines.

A third feeder reportedly located along Opolo Market Road is also yet to be linked to the existing distribution infrastructure, according to the statement.

The fourth feeder, said to be located around the Tombia Roundabout axis, was also listed as not yet connected.

The statement further claimed that the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) control substation is still the primary source supplying electricity to Yenagoa, as the gas turbine breakers have not been opened or integrated into the system.

It noted that until the necessary connections are completed, the turbine project cannot supply electricity to the city.

The message also called for improved communication from those managing the Bayelsa State gas turbine project, urging clearer updates to residents regarding the status of power supply in the state capital.
