JAMB Releases UTME Mop-Up Results, Begins Admission Process

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the results of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) mop-up exercise, paving the way for the next phase of the national admission process.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Board’s Public Communication Advisor, Fabian Benjamin.

According to JAMB, the mop-up examination was conducted on June 13, 2026, for candidates who were unable to participate in the main UTME due to technical challenges, biometric verification issues, and other exceptional circumstances.

The Board confirmed that candidates who participated in the exercise can now access their results through its official result-checking platforms.

It added that the admission process would move into its next stage immediately, beginning with the ranking of candidates. Printing of results for admission purposes, JAMB said, is expected to commence before the end of the week.

“Following the successful conclusion of the mop-up exercise and the release of the results, the Board will commence the ranking of candidates. Thereafter, the printing of results for admission purposes is expected to begin before the weekend,” the statement read.

JAMB expressed appreciation to candidates, parents, tertiary institutions, and other stakeholders for their cooperation throughout the examination process, noting that their patience contributed to the smooth conduct of both the main and mop-up examinations.

The Board had earlier explained that the mop-up exercise was organised specifically for candidates who had completed biometric verification but were unable to sit for the main UTME, as well as those affected by technical glitches or examination infractions that led to withheld results.

“The exercise was designed for candidates affected by technical issues, biometric verification challenges, and cases involving withdrawn results linked to examination infractions during the main UTME exercise,” the Board had stated.

The 2026 UTME was held between April 16 and April 25 at accredited Computer-Based Test centres nationwide.

Following the examination, JAMB initially released 632,752 results for candidates who sat on April 16, before publishing an additional 1,264,940 results for candidates who wrote the exam on April 17 and 18, bringing the total released for the early sittings to 1,897,692.

For the 2026 admission cycle, JAMB maintained its existing entry requirements, with universities and Colleges of Nursing Sciences expected to admit candidates scoring at least 150, while polytechnics will admit those with a minimum score of 100. The Board also retained 16 years as the minimum age for admission into tertiary institutions.

JAMB further announced a policy change set to take effect from the 2027 admission cycle, under which candidates seeking admission into Colleges of Education for education-related and agriculture non-engineering programmes will no longer be required to sit the UTME.
