Delta 2025 budget remains N1.179trn after review Guwor

The Speaker of the Delta House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dennis Guwor, has disclosed that the state’s 2025 budget remains N1.179 trillion despite the recent realignment of provisions.

Guwor made the clarification during plenary while reacting to the passage of the Revised Supplementary Appropriation Bill, 2025, and another amendment bill by lawmakers.

The Speaker said the realignment was designed to improve funding for priority projects and programmes across Delta State, ensuring resources are directed toward areas with greater developmental impact.

He commended members of the Assembly for their commitment, bipartisan cooperation, and diligent legislative consideration that led to the successful passage of both executive bills.

According to Guwor, the revised supplementary appropriation reflects the collective determination of lawmakers to place the interests of Deltans above other competing demands.

He explained that although adjustments were made through the supplementary budget, the overall size of the 2025 State budget remained unchanged at N1,179,228,818,719.

The Assembly also passed a bill seeking to amend the Public and Private Properties Protection Law, Cap P26, Laws of Delta State, 2006.

Guwor stated that the amendment would strengthen the legal framework protecting public infrastructure, private investments, and property rights while promoting peace and security across the state.

The Speaker noted that the amended law would enhance enforcement measures, discourage vandalism, illegal occupation, and destruction of property, while creating a safer environment for investment and development.

He stressed that the legislative action demonstrated the commitment of the Assembly to good governance, respect for property rights, and the promotion of stability throughout Delta State.

Guwor, who also serves as Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria, appreciated lawmakers for their support and contributions during the legislative process.

He assured residents that the Assembly would continue prioritising their interests by providing effective legislative backing for government programmes, policies, and initiatives aimed at improving lives across the State.
