Maciver alleges sabotage in Bayelsa APC

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Bayelsa State, Joseph Maciver, has raised alarm over alleged internal sabotage within the party.
Maciver urged Douye Diri to be wary of what he described as betrayals within the political structure.
He spoke on Monday while reacting to developments surrounding ward congress activities in Southern Ijaw.
Maciver accused certain politicians in Southern Ijaw of hijacking the ward congress process.
He alleged that some individuals were invoking the governor’s name to influence outcomes.
According to him, the process was being skewed in favour of relatives and loyal associates.
He claimed that some office holders were manipulating internal procedures for political patronage.
Maciver warned that failure to address the situation could spark internal crisis.
He cautioned that unresolved disputes might weaken party cohesion ahead of the next general election.
Unchecked actions, he said, could result in the collapse of party structures at the grassroots.
He stressed that ward congresses remain vital to strengthening internal democracy.
The APC chieftain alleged that some self-acclaimed stakeholders had previously betrayed the party.
He claimed they collected money from the Peoples Democratic Party but failed to secure victories in their wards.
Maciver described their present actions as a repeat of past disloyal conduct.
He insisted that fairness and inclusivity must guide internal party processes.
Maciver called on Governor Diri to closely monitor unfolding developments.
He urged party leaders to ensure transparency and credibility in the congress exercise.
According to him, credible internal elections will determine electoral strength in future polls.
He concluded with a stern warning: “A betrayal is always a betrayal.”
Political observers say tensions remain high as ward congresses continue across Bayelsa State.
