The senator representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District, Senator Seriake Dickson has opted for a low key celebration as he marks 59 today.
Senator Dickson made his intentions known yesterday, through a post on his verifiable official facebook account, where he pleaded with his teeming supporters, especially those residing far away in Bayelsa State and other parts of the country’.
The lawmaker instead urged them to avoid the temptation of traveling down to Abuja, instead they should use the occasion to pray for him and the country for a better tomorrow.
The post read thus: Tomorrow, “January 28, 2025, being my birthday, I wish to enjoin friends, well-wishers, and supporters not to travel to Abuja for any celebration, as you all know that I do not formally celebrate birthdays.
“I know that since when I was in government and thereafter, people always come to mark the day with me and my family; but for this year, and for obvious reasons, I do not advise anyone to travel to Abuja, because of the risk associated and the travel cost”, he advised.
He further said, “I know you all love and care for me, and I also love and care for you all. I enjoin all to only pray for me and thank God for His mercies in my life, and also pray that God will keep us all alive and healthy to continue to be of service to our people and our nation.
“I advise that no one should assist anyone in making travel arrangements to Abuja, and I appeal that no one should take offence at this.
I will be having a low-key private worship session with my family and then continue with the rest of the day. I enjoin all to please abide by this”, he added.
