House of Reps rejects Rotational Presidency Bill

The House of Representatives on Tuesday rejected a bill seeking rotational presidency in Nigeria, along with six other constitution amendment bills.
The bills failed to scale the second reading during the plenary presided over by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen.
Rejected Bills
The rejected Bills include,
Rotational Presidency Bill, A Bill for an Act to Alter the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Cap. C23, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004 to Provide for the Principle of Rotation of the Offices of the President and the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria among the Six Geopolitical Zones of the Country’ (HB. 2291).
The House also rejected bills related to: Registration and regulation of political parties, Establishment of Office of State Auditors-General for Local Governments, Number of Judges of the Federal High Court, Admiralty jurisdiction of the Federal High Court, Salaries and allowances of judicial officers, Creation of Ughelli East Local Government Area in Delta State
The bills were initially lumped together and put to a vote, with the lawmakers voting against them.
Attempts to reconsider separate voting failed following appeals by the Chairman of the House Committee on Rules and Business.
The bills may be reconsidered on Wednesday.
