18 teams set for 2025 Olumide Oyedeji intercollegiate 3×3 basketball championship

The 2025 Olumide Oyedeji Intercollegiate 3×3 Basketball Championship is set to take place from June 19 to 21 at the National Stadium in Lagos, with 18 teams competing in the tournament.
After weeks of zonal qualifiers involving over 100 institutions nationwide, the final teams have emerged.

From the North West, Ahmadu Bello University and Bayero University, Kano, have qualified.

The North Central will be represented by FUT Minna, IBB University, Lapai, and the College of Education, Minna.

From the North East, College for Legal Studies, Yola, FCE Yola, and American University of Nigeria, Yola, have all secured places.

The South West will feature Obafemi Awolowo University, Lead City University, and LAUTECH.

Representing the South East are Caritas University, IMT Enugu, and the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

The South South teams are University of Benin, Ambrose Alli University, and Dennis Osadebay University.

The founder of the tournament and NBBF board member, Olumide Oyedeji, expressed his excitement about the event, saying it would help to promote the culture of 3×3 basketball in Nigeria.
 “3×3 is gaining global traction, and Nigeria cannot be left behind. As a basketball-playing nation, we must use 3×3 to engage youth and create pathways to international exposure,” he added.
The theme of the 2025 edition is “King of 3×3,” and the tournament is expected to be an exciting competition among the participating teams.
The event is aimed at providing a platform for young basketball players to showcase their skills and gain international exposure.
With the growing popularity of 3×3 basketball globally, the tournament is a significant step in promoting the sport in Nigeria.
