Ondo APC chairman killed by abductors despite ransom payment

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in ward 5, Ifon, Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, Nelson Adepoyigi, has been reportedly killed by his abductors.
Adepoyigi was kidnapped from his residence in Ifon a few days ago. Despite a ransom of N5 million and food items being paid, the kidnappers refused to release him.
The ransom was initially set at N100 million but was negotiated down to N5 million with foodstuffs.
However, after capturing the two ransom bearers, the kidnappers demanded an additional N30 million for their release. Unfortunately, Adepoyigi was killed despite the payment.
The Chairman of Ose Local Government Council, Mr Clement Ojo, confirmed the development in a statement, expressing sadness and condolences to Adepoyigi’s family and friends.
The statement reads: ”while we are grateful that the two volunteers have now regained their freedom, it is deeply saddening and utterly painful that the life of Nelson Adepoyigi was brutally cut short by his captors.
”We urge our people to remain vigilant, promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest security post, and stand united as we work together to overcome this threat.”
The Ondo State Police Command has yet to confirm the killing, but a detachment of police detectives has been drafted to the community to investigate the incident.
