Aston Villa’s hopes of finishing in the top five were dented when goalkeeper Emi Martinez was sent off, and they ultimately finished sixth, earning a Europa League spot.
Tottenham suffered a 4-1 thrashing at Brighton, finishing 17th in the league. Arsenal beat Southampton 1-0, while West Ham won 3-1 at Ipswich.
Liverpool’s title celebrations were marked with a mutual guard of honour with Crystal Palace, who had won the FA Cup.
