Tinubu to attend ECOWAS’s 50th anniversary, commission projects in Lagos

President Bola Tinubu is set to attend the 50th anniversary celebration of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in Lagos.
The President’s spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, in a statement, announced that Tinubu would leave Abuja on Tuesday to join other leaders in marking this significant milestone ยน.
The ECOWAS Golden Jubilee was flagged off in Accra last month, and the Lagos event would feature a reenactment of the 1975 declaration at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs in Victoria Island.
At the Eko Hotels and Suites, President Tinubu, who is also the Chairman of ECOWAS, would highlight the economic bloc’s milestones.
Gen. Yakubu Gowon (Rtd.), the only surviving Head of State who signed the ECOWAS declaration, would participate in all ceremonies and deliver a speech at the Eko Hotels.
Dr. Omar Touray, President of the ECOWAS Commission, would also deliver the welcome address, while
Professor Bolaji Akinyemi, Chairman of the NIIA and former Minister of External Affairs, would review the bloc’s 50-year journey, which would be analysed by panellists at the NIIA.
President Tinubu would also inaugurate several projects on Saturday, May 31, including a section I of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, the Lekki Deep Sea Port Tax Credit Concrete Road among others.
President Tinubu would also observe the Eid-el-Kabir prayers at the State House, Dodan Barracks, before returning to Abuja.
