APC welcomes Akwa Ibom Governor Eno with open arms

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has warmly welcomed Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State into the party fold, following his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
This is contained in a statement by the National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, on X on Friday titled APC Welcomes Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, Into Party,’.
The party assured the governor that he would be fully accommodated.
The party’s National Working Committee expressed delight over the governor’s decision, describing it as a thoughtful move that would ensure the greater progress of Akwa Ibom State and its people.
“The National Working Committee of All Progressives Congress (APC) under the leadership of His Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje is delighted at the news of the Governor of Akwa Ibom state, Umo Eno’s decision to join our great Party.
“We are confident that his thoughtful decision will inure to the greater progress of Akwa Ibom state and people.
“Our great party assures the governor of its fullest cooperation and accommodation in the APC family, as we continue to grow the Party and work together towards the full realisation of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for the good and benefit of all Nigerians, ” statement read.
The party is confident that the governor’s decision will benefit the state and its people, and is committed to working together towards the realisation of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Governor Eno reiterated his desire to fully support President Tinubu’s economic reforms as the reason for his defection.
He emphasised that he was joining the APC from a position of strength, rather than weakness.
The governor had recently urged his commissioners and appointees to follow him to the APC or resign their positions.
The defection comes after the governor’s Delta State counterpart, Sheriff Oborevwori, also left the PDP for the APC.
The defection of Governor Eno is seen as a significant boost to the APC’s fortunes in the state.
The party is expected to leverage the governor’s influence to strengthen its presence in the state and advance its agenda.
