NDA Bill: Senator Nwoko champions new campus in Delta

Senator Ned Munir Nwoko, representing Delta North at the Senate has introduced the Nigerian Defence Academy (Amendment) Bill to the Senate.
The bill which is aimed at establishing an additional NDA campus in Delta, is expected to enhance regional equity, security presence, and youth empowerment in the South-South region.
The bill underscored the need for a second military training institution in the South, one that reflects the geographical diversity and security imperatives of the nation.
Establishing the new campus would help to improve military preparedness and rapid response in a region critical to national oil infrastructure and maritime security.
The proposed law would also help to provide direct access to military education and careers for youths in Delta and neighbouring states, thereby reducing barriers of distance and cost.
”This bill is about balance, opportunity, and national strength,” Senator Nwoko stated.
“Delta State and the entire South-South region play a vital role in Nigeria’s economic and security framework.
” Establishing an NDA campus here in Delta will not only serve national defence interests but also unlock massive socio-economic benefits for our people, ” Nwoko said.
The proposed campus would promote national integration by training cadets from all over Nigeria in the South-South heartland.
The bill is also expected to stimulate regional development, infrastructure investment, and job creation.
The campus is anticipated to generate employment opportunities for thousands in construction, logistics, education, and services.
The bill is expected to lead to growth in small and medium-scale businesses due to increased population and demand.
Senator Nwoko called on all Nigerians to support the bill, emphasising the importance of bipartisan cooperation in making the vision of a more secure, inclusive, and regionally balanced Nigeria a reality.
The bill is currently under review by relevant Senate committees and is expected to undergo debate and consideration in the coming weeks.
