Sultan of Sokoto calls for prayers to propel Nigeria’s progress

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, has urged traditional rulers and faith-based groups to offer prayers for Nigeria’s progress and peaceful coexistence.
He made appeal after he led a special prayer session following the Jumu’at prayer in Sokoto.
The Sultan emphasised the importance of prayers in supporting the nation’s development, especially as Nigeria approaches Democracy Day.
He encouraged Nigerians to pray for effective policies and leadership.
Abubakar stressed the need for continuous prayers for leaders, highlighting that prayer is essential for the wellbeing of any society.
He called on traditional rulers, faith groups, and individuals to organise similar prayer sessions across the country to seek peace and solutions to current challenges.
The Sultan acknowledged the government’s efforts to address hardship but emphasised that more needed to be done, particularly in the North.
He urged leaders to take proactive steps to resolve these issues.
Abubakar expressed gratitude to security agencies for their efforts in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of citizens.
He extended felicitations to Muslims during the Eid Kabir celebration and prayed for the safe return of pilgrims, encouraging them to continue praying for Nigeria and its leaders.
