APC meeting turns violent over Tinubu endorsement without Shettima

A stakeholders’ meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State turned violent on Sunday after top party officials endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term without mentioning Vice President Kashim Shettima.
The meeting, attended by key APC figures from the North-East, including ministers, lawmakers, and governors, erupted in chaos when National Vice Chairman Mustapha Salihu endorsed Tinubu without referencing Shettima.
Delegates hurled insults and threatened physical confrontation, forcing security operatives to escort Salihu out of the venue.
Deputy National Chairman Bukar Dalori attempted to calm the situation by endorsing both Tinubu and Shettima for a second term, but the atmosphere remained tense.
According to report, APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje further inflamed tensions when he endorsed Tinubu without mentioning Shettima, prompting delegates to exchange blows and disrupt the event.
The meeting ended abruptly, with Ganduje and Salihu escorted out by security personnel.
The incident highlights deep-seated divisions within the APC, particularly regarding regional representation and loyalty
