IPMAN welcomes Dangote’s free fuel distribution plan

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has welcomed the Dangote Refinery’s plan to distribute petrol and diesel free of charge to marketers across the country.
IPMAN’s National Publicity Secretary, Chinedu Ukadike, said this while Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily programme on Friday.
Ukadike, praised Aliko Dangote for seeing a problem in the sector and deciding to tackle it.
Accrued to Ukadike, “If you look at the Dangote statement, it is a strong policy statement, if you read down that statement you will understand that he foresaw a lot of problems in the oil and gas industry and also decided to tackle it.
“It is something that we welcome with a lot of cheers because it is going to bring fuel cheaper at our doorpost,” Ukadike said.
Ukadike noted that the plan would make fuel cheaper and more accessible, relieving marketers of unnecessary costs.
He highlighted the challenges marketers face in transporting products from coastal areas to various parts of the country, emphasising that Dangote’s initiative would alleviate these burdens.
The Dangote Refinery announced the free distribution plan on Sunday, stating it has procured 4,000 new CNG-powered tankers for the initiative, set to start on August 15, 2025.
However, some oil marketers under PETROAN expressed concerns that the plan would negatively impact depot owners, truck operators, and retail outlets.
IPMAN’s Ukadike disagreed with these concerns, asserting that as a refinery, Dangote has the right to determine the best distribution method for its products.
