Ganduje resigns as APC National Chairman, Dalori takes over

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has resigned from his position, with immediate effect.
APC Spokesman Felix Morka, in a statement on Saturday, said Ganduje’s resignation was due to urgent and important personal matters.
Ganduje had been facing increasing resistance from within the party, particularly over his appointment, which some viewed as a violation of the party’s zoning arrangements.
Following Ganduje’s resignation, President Bola Tinubu has directed Ali Dalori, the Deputy National Chairman (North), to assume the position of Acting National Chairman, pending a meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) to fill the vacancy.
Ganduje took over as APC National Chairman in August 2023, following the resignation of Abdullahi Adamu.
During his tenure, the party faced internal challenges, and Ganduje’s leadership was marked by controversy over zoning arrangements.
Prior to his appointment, Ganduje served as Kano State Governor from May 2015 to May 2023.
Recently, President Tinubu appointed Ganduje as the Board Chairman of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
Ganduje was also reportedly nominated as a non-career ambassador.
The APC NEC meeting will determine the next steps for the party’s leadership.
