No sacrifice too big for peace in Rivers, Fubara insists

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers , has emphasised that achieving peace, stability, and progress in the state was worth any sacrifice.
He made this statement on Saturday while addressing his supporters in Port Harcourt, reassuring them that his reconciliation with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike was done with their collective interests in mind.
Fubara said that peace and stability were crucial for the state’s progress, and he’s willing to make tough decisions to achieve this goal.
The governor revealed that the reconciliation process involved consultations with key stakeholders and trusted allies within his political family.
Fubara acknowledged that the new political realities might be difficult for some to accept, especially those who’ve stood by him during the turbulence.
He lamented that the political crisis had delayed development projects across the state but expressed optimism that the pace of implementation would soon pick up.
Fubara recognised Wike’s contribution to his emergence as governor, emphasising that their political history could be erased.
He disclosed that President Bola Tinubu personally intervened, directing both him and Wike to reconcile for the sake of Rivers State.
Fubara, Wike, and suspended Speaker Martin Amaewhule made a public appearance together at a funeral service in Rumuepirikom, Wike’s hometown, after President Tinubu’s peace deal.
The event was attended by notable political figures, including Senator Allwell Onyesoh, Senator George Thompson Sekibo, and Senator Olaka Nwogu.
The joint appearance has reignited hope that the crisis, which led to a state of emergency, may be nearing an end.
