Super Falcons triumph over Ghana in WAFCON warm-up match

The Super Falcons of Nigeria have secured a commanding 3-1 win over their arch-rivals Ghana in a friendly match ahead of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The match, played in Morocco, saw Nigeria take a strong lead with goals from Chinwendu Ihezuo, Asisat Oshoala, and Rasheedat Ajibade, while Ghana managed to pull one back in the dying minutes of the game.
Nigeria took the lead in the 34th minute with a goal from Chinwendu Ihezuo.
Bay FC’s Asisat Oshoala doubled the scoreline 10 minutes later.
Captain Rasheedat Ajibade scored the third goal in the second half, all but sealing the win for the Super Falcons.
This match was the Super Falcons’ last warm-up game before the WAFCON, which kicks off on July 5, 2025.
The team had a goalless draw with European side Portugal last Monday. Nigeria is in Group B of the competition, alongside Tunisia, Botswana, and Algeria, and will face Tunisia in their first game on Sunday.
The Super Falcons have a record nine WAFCON titles and are aiming for their 10th crown in the upcoming tournament. With this convincing win over Ghana, the team is looking strong and determined to make a mark in the competition.
