Senate postpones North-West constitution review hearing in honour of late Dantata

The Senate has postponed the scheduled North-West geo-political zone Constitution review public hearing as a mark of respect for the late elder statesman and business mogul, Alhaji Aminu Dantata.
Alhaji Dantata, a notable philanthropist from Kano State, passed away recently in Saudi Arabia, where his burial took place in the city of Medina.
The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, announced the postponement during plenary on Tuesday in Abuja, citing the need to honor Dantata’s memory.
The zonal constitutional conference for the North-West would be rescheduled to a date mutually agreed upon by stakeholders in the zone.
Despite the postponement, the Senate would proceed with a comprehensive two-day zonal public hearing on proposed amendments to the 1999 Constitution in other geo-political zones.
