Arsenal sign Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad in £55m deal

Arsenal Football Club has confirmed the signing of Spanish midfielder Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad in a deal worth £51 million.
The 26-year-old joins the Gunners on a five-year contract and will wear the number 36 shirt.
Zubimendi expressed excitement about joining Arsenal, citing the club’s style of play as a key factor in his decision.
“This is a huge moment in my career. I set my sights on Arsenal because their style of play is a good fit for me,” he said.
Zubimendi’s arrival is expected to reinforce Mikel Arteta’s midfield options, filling the gap left by the departures of Thomas Partey and Jorginho.
He will likely partner with Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard, allowing Rice to play a more attacking role.
“Martin is a player who will bring a huge amount of quality and football intelligence to our team.
“He will fit in really well and has all the attributes to be a key player for us, ”Arteta said
Arsenal paid slightly above Zubimendi’s £51 million release clause to structure the payment in installments, a strategic move to manage their finances this summer.
With Zubimendi’s signing, Arsenal’s focus now shifts to strengthening their forward line, potentially with signings like Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon or Noni Madueke from Chelsea.
