Sen. Dickson backs Akpoti-Uduaghan’s return to senate

Senator Seriake Dickson, representing Bayelsa West in the National Assembly, has expressed his support for the return of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, to the Senate.
Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended from the Senate on March 6 following a contentious confrontation with the Senate leadership over a new seating arrangement in the chamber.
The dispute escalated into a major controversy when Akpoti-Uduaghan appeared on national television and accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of retaliating against her for allegedly rejecting his sexual advances. Akpabio has vehemently denied the allegations.
However, Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja ruled on July 4 that the Senate must reinstate Akpoti-Uduaghan.
The court’s decision has paved the way for Akpoti-Uduaghan’s potential return to the Senate.
Senator Dickson, while speaking to journalists, said that he never supported Akpoti-Uduaghan’s suspension and expressed his hope that she would resume her duties in the Senate as soon as possible.
Dickson’s comments suggest that there is some level of support for Akpoti-Uduaghan’s return among her colleagues in the Senate.
The development is likely to generate significant interest and attention in the Senate, particularly given the controversy surrounding Akpoti-Uduaghan’s suspension and the allegations she made against Akpabio.
With the court’s ruling in her favour, Akpoti-Uduaghan is now poised to return to the Senate and resume her role as a senator representing Kogi Central.
