Dino Melaye confident ADC will unseat Tinubu in 2027

Dino Melaye, a former Kogi lawmaker and member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has expressed confidence that the party will produce a candidate to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
Senator Melaye made this remark during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today.
Melaye described the ADC as a “national altar call” for Nigerians who were driven by conscience and committed to real change.
He urged Nigerians to rethink the party’s role in national politics, noting that those who join the ADC were driven by a desire for change and a sense of responsibility to the country.
Melaye emphasised the need for the ADC to create a comfortable and stable platform that would produce a candidate capable of unseating President Tinubu.
“Those of us in the ADC need to create a comfortable, stable platform. And I believe that platform will produce a candidate that will unseat President Ahmed Bola Tinubu in 2027,” he said.
Melaye also highlighted the importance of a transparent convention in producing a credible presidential candidate for the party.
“But I have made it a point of duty that I will not be talking about a presidential candidate or aspirant or preference for anybody until we get the party completely stabilised and organise a transparent convention that will produce a presidential candidate of the ADC who, by the grace of God, will kick, ” he added.
Melaye emphasised that the ADC was driven by a desire to see a Nigeria where citizens can answer questions from their grandchildren about what they did when the country was being destroyed.
He said, “We want to be able to say we did A, B, C, and D.” This vision is at the heart of the party’s mission to bring about real change in Nigeria.
The ADC has received the endorsement of a coalition of top politicians, including Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar, Nasir El-Rufai, Rotimi Amaechi, and Melaye.
The coalition aimed to rally various political blocs under one umbrella to unseat the ruling party.
Despite the coalition’s endorsement, critics and APC leaders have dismissed the coalition’s strength, citing potential internal rivalries and the intention to spearhead the highly coveted presidential ticket.
However, Melaye remained confident in the ADC’s potential to produce a candidate who could unseat President Tinubu.
