ADC denies Northern agenda claims, says party open to all

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has denied allegations that it is working in the interest of Nigeria’s Northern region.
The ADC Spokesman, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, who was a guest on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, described the insinuations as unfounded.
”These claims are baseless and “ridiculous.” Mallam Abdullahi emphasised that the party was designed to build a future for all Nigerians, regardless of their geographical location or religious background.
“You see, it’s ridiculous to say the least, and he [Dumebi Kachikwu] should be ashamed of himself, ” he said, adding, “ADC is a party, and we said this from day one, it’s neither a party of the North nor of the South.
”It’s neither a party of Muslims nor of Christians. It’s neither a party for old people, so it’s a party that is deliberately designed to develop and build the kind of future that Nigeria desires, ”
Abdullahi highlighted the party’s national spread by mentioning key members from the southern region, showcasing the coalition’s diverse representation.
The diversity, he argued, contradicted the notion that the party is pushing a northern agenda
*Response to Dumebi Kachikwu’s Accusations*
Dumebi Kachikwu, a former ADC presidential candidate, had accused the party of working to return power to the Northern region.
However, Abdullahi dismissed these claims, saying that Kachikwu’s comments were unfounded.
Mani Ibrahim, a chieftain of the coalition and former ADC Board of Trustees chairman, also weighed in, saying Kachikwu does not speak for the party and should be ignored.
The ADC recently unveiled its newly confirmed National Working Committee, with former Senate President David Mark as National Chairman and Rauf Aregbesola as National Secretary.
Bolaji Abdullahi is serving as the National Publicity Secretary.
The leadership structure is seen as a strategic move to strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The ADC has been critical of the current government’s performance, with Abdullahi urging President Bola Tinubu to focus on addressing national crises rather than pursuing re-election ambitions.
The party has also accused the government of trying to cause divisions within its ranks.
