Oba Ladoja returns to Ibadan ahead of coronation

Former Oyo State Governor and Olubadan-designate, Oba Rasidi Ladoja, has returned to Ibadan six weeks after the passing of the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, who died on July 7 and was buried on August 8.
Oba Ladoja arrived in Ibadan on Monday at 1:20 pm and proceeded to his family home in Isale-Osi, where he was warmly received by relatives and friends.
Special prayers were conducted in his honour, blending Muslim and Christian traditions, to mark his return and upcoming installation.
A large crowd of supporters and well-wishers gathered to welcome Ladoja, showcasing their enthusiasm and loyalty.
Ladoja is set to undergo traditional rites required for his installation as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.
The Olubadan-In-Council unanimously nominated and approved Ladoja as Olubadan-designate on August 4, after a 21-day mourning period for the late monarch.
Ladoja’s nomination is pending approval by Governor Seyi Makinde, who will ratify the council’s decision and set a date for the presentation of the staff of office.
As a former governor and senator, Ladoja brings extensive experience in governance and public service to his new role.
The Olubadan chieftaincy system alternates between the civil and military lines, with Ladoja being the most senior chief in the civil line.
