D’Tigers bow out of 2025 AfroBasket

Nigeria’s men’s basketball team, D’Tigers, has been eliminated from the 2025 AfroBasket tournament in Angola following a 91-75 quarter-final defeat to Senegal at the Pavilhão Multiusos de Luanda.
D’Tigers started the game on a high note, edging the first quarter 24-23, but their momentum quickly faded as Senegal took control.
The Senegalese team built an 11-point lead at halftime with the scoreboard reading 53-42 and widened the gap in the third quarter, pushing their advantage to more than 20 points.
D’Tigers struggled to find answers as Senegal’s lead grew, and by the final quarter, the contest had slipped beyond Nigeria’s reach.
The loss means D’Tigers have been eliminated from the tournament’s main contention and will now compete in classification games against other quarter-final losers to determine their final standing.
Despite the defeat, D’Tigers had a successful group stage, storming through with three wins from three games, but failed to replicate that form when it mattered most.
