2027: APC chieftain urges Omo-Agege to forego governorship ambition for stability

A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Chief Morrison Olori, has advised former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, to jettison any plan to contest the 2027 governorship election in the state.
Chief Olori urged Omo-Agege to heed the call of his political ally, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, not to contest the forthcoming election against incumbent Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
The octogenarian politician gave the advice on Sunday while speaking with journalists at his residence in Ughelli, Delta.
While it remains Senator Omo-Agege’s constitutional right to vie for any political position, he said; “As a political father to all politicians, including Omo-Agege and Governor Oborevwori, Omo-Agege should allow the incumbent to go for second term”.
Olori, who was one of the political gladiators that supported Omo-Agege’s 2023 governorship ambition, noted that while the former deputy senate president remained an illustrious son to him, he would not, however, advise him to contest the 2027 polls.
The octogenarian politician believes it would be a “political mistake” for Omo-Agege to challenge Oborevwori for the APC ticket, given the governor’s good performance.
Olori, one of Nigeria’s foremost businessmen, pleaded with Omo-Agege to forego his longtime governorship ambition for the stability of the political space.
“Governor Oborevwori is doing very well and he will be overwhelmingly reelected by Deltans.”
“Omo-Agege and Oborevwori are my sons, and, as their father, I am advising them to work together for the development of the state, ” he said.
Olori called on the people of Delta to support Governor Oborevwori beyond 2027 to enable him to deliver his ‘MORE Agenda: of infrastructural and industrial development in the state.
