PDP dismisses claims of crisis in party

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed claims that it is in crisis, insisting that the party remains strong, united, and prepared for its national convention scheduled for November 15 and 16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, made this assertion in an interview on Wednesday on Arise News.
Ologunagba emphasised that the PDP’s recent recalibration demonstrated its capacity to step back, reorganize, and strengthen its internal affairs.
He stated, “The PDP was never in ICU. Do we have challenges? Yes, we do. Just like every human organisation or every human being, we do.
‘:The party has undergone a post-mortem review after the 2023 elections and is focused on correcting past mistakes”, he added. .
The PDP spokesman stressed that internal debates were part of the party’s democratic culture.
“The beauty of democracy is the fact that people disagree. But the capacity of any political party to bring people within this fold to speak to each other is what is important,:: he said.
He added that the party has made progress in recent months, with its members united and working towards a common goal.
Ologunagba explained that the party has issued reprimands to members who worked against the party during the last election.
He further said, “Membership of a political party is free. There’s free entry, there’s free exit. But if you subscribe to obey the constitution, you must obey.
”The party is focused on moving forward and looking to the future. The PDP is preparing for its national convention, where key decisions will be made.
 ”We are set for Ibadan, and all the arrangements – the venue, the logistics, the security arrangements – are ongoing as I speak. The party is confident that its convention will be successful and strengthen its structures”, he said..
The PDP spokesman, stressing that Nigerians still recognize the party’s legacy and capacity to deliver. “The only reason Nigerians are interested in the PDP is because they know the capacity of this party.
 ” The PDP remains a strong and united party, ready to take on the challenges of the futur, he said.
