Rivers LG Elections: APC hits back at Atiku

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s remarks on the recent Rivers State local government elections, describing them as “reckless” and a “call to anarchy”.
APC National Publicity Secretary, Chief Felix Morka, made this known in an interview with Arise News on Monday.
Chief Morka further  dismissed Atiku’s claim that the election represented a “travesty of democracy”, saying his words carried no weight.
Morka also emphasised that Atiku’s party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was a “no-show” in the election, lacking real grassroots presence in Rivers and other participating states.
The APC categorically rejected Atiku’s allegations of foul play, attributing his comments to frustration and desperation.
Morka stated that Atiku’s opinion was “absolutely irrelevant” to the people of Rivers State, who are the best judges of their own interests.
“When he calls for people to rise up and fight, the people of Rivers State, we trust them to ignore such an irresponsible call because it is not in their interest,” Morka added.
The APC maintained that its victory in the elections was legitimate and a reflection of the will of the electorate in Rivers State.
Morka expressed gratitude to the people of Rivers State for massively voting for the party and commended the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission and security agencies for ensuring a peaceful and transparent election.
Morka has previously criticised Atiku’s leadership, describing him as driven solely by selfish and obsessive presidential ambition.
He accused Atiku of being unwilling to commit to building his party or resolving internal crises, instead claiming a birthright entitlement to the presidential ticket.
