VP Shettima returns to Abuja after successful diplomatic mission

Vice President, Kashim Shettima, has returned to Abuja after a successful diplomatic mission representing President Bola Tinubu at the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 80) in New York and concluding strategic engagements in Germany.

During the session, Senator Shettima delivered President Tinubu’s national statement, calling for comprehensive reforms of the United Nations to better address global challenges.

Shettima championed Africa’s sovereignty over its $700 billion mineral resources, emphasizing the need for African countries to have control over their natural resources.

The Vice President also strengthened strategic partnerships with the United Kingdom, Gates Foundation, and other international stakeholders to promote Nigeria’s interests and development.

Shettima met with UN Secretary-General António Guterres and secured his commendation for Nigeria’s bid for a permanent seat on the UN Security Council.

He showcased Nigeria’s $200 billion energy transition opportunity to global investors, highlighting the country’s potential for renewable energy and sustainable development.

Before his engagements in Germany, Shettima assured the Nigerian diaspora community of robust engagement in the President Tinubu administration’s policies and programs.

The move aimed to foster a stronger relationship between the government and the diaspora community, promoting Nigeria’s development and interests abroad.
