NDLEA launches online portal for drug testing and visa clearance

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has unveiled a digital platform designed to streamline the process for Drug Integrity Tests and Visa Clearance Services, as part of a broader effort to modernize its operations and enhance Nigeria’s fight against drug abuse and trafficking.

The new system, known as the Drug Integrity Test and Visa E-Administration System (DITViCAS), was officially launched during a press conference in Abuja on Tuesday, October 21, 2025.

NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive, Brig-Gen. Mohamed Marwa (Rtd), represented by Agency Secretary Shadrach Haruna, described the move as a “paradigm shift” where technology meets enforcement.

He emphasised that the digital portal would eliminate long-standing challenges such as excessive paperwork, delays, and human interference in the clearance process.

According to Brig. Gen. Marwa, this innovation allows applicants to complete drug test and visa clearance procedures online, choose their preferred testing centres, and book appointments—all without physically visiting the NDLEA office.

Marwa also explained that the system is part of NDLEA’s strategy to reduce drug demand, not just supply.

The digitised testing is extended to students, couples, employees, and individuals seeking rehabilitation—not to stigmatize, but to prevent deeper addiction through early intervention.

“The digital portal is a commitment to integrity-driven public service,” Marwa said, adding that the NDLEA’s war against drug abuse (WADA) now moves into a proactive, compassionate, and data-driven phase.

NDLEA therefore called on institutions, employers, parents, and prospective couples to take advantage of the new portal for hassle-free testing.

The platform would also allow real-time test results and aims to combat forgery of drug test and visa certificates through an integrated E-Certification and Verification System.

The platform is also being positioned as a national security tool to safeguard Nigeria’s international reputation and prevent criminal exploitation of visa processes.

With the DITViCAS platform, the NDLEA is embracing technology to deliver faster, safer, and more transparent services — reinforcing its mission to protect lives and build a drug-free Nigeria.
