Umukwata monarch pledges multi-million naira PMAN secretariat

The cultural and creative community of Ndokwa Nation received a major boost as His Royal Majesty, Enyi Friday Abaja, the Ukwata of Umukwata Kingdom, announced plans to build a multi-million-naira secretariat for the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN), Ndokwa Chapter, in Obinomba, Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State.

The royal commitment was revealed during a colourful gathering at the monarch’s palace, shortly after his annual Iwa-Iji (New Yam Festival) celebration.

The event, which drew a vibrant crowd of artists and musicians from across Ndokwa Nation, doubled as a celebration of culture and creativity.

Addressing the guests, HRM Enyi Friday Abaja said the project reflects his desire to uplift the creative industry and give Ndokwa entertainers a strong institutional base.

He noted that having witnessed the power of creativity to transform societies during his travels, he believed that the time has come for Ndokwa Nation to build its own foundation for artistic growth.

“I have seen how creativity drives progress across the world. My goal is to create an environment where talent is celebrated, organized, and developed for the good of our people,” the Ukwata said.

He added that unity among musicians and entertainers would be crucial to sustaining progress, urging PMAN members to work together in harmony and avoid rivalry.

The announcement was met with excitement by members of the Ndokwa Chapter of PMAN, who hailed the monarch’s gesture as a milestone for the local entertainment industry.

The Ukwata announced that the formal groundbreaking ceremony for the secretariat will take place soon. The event, he said, will also feature the official presentation of the building’s design and layout to the public.

Speaking on behalf of the group, PMAN Delta State Chairman, Adviser Ishioma (popularly known as Ogidigba), alongside Sir Deskenny (Daddy), State Orji Nmor, and other entertainers, thanked the Ukwata for his long-standing role as a patron and supporter of Ndokwa creatives.

“His Majesty has always stood with us, even before now. This secretariat will give us a home, a place to plan, to grow, and to unite as one voice in Ndokwa entertainment,” Ishioma said.

The musicians also described the monarch as a visionary leader whose passion for youth empowerment continues to inspire the next generation of performers.

The project when completed, is expected to serve as an administrative hub for the Ndokwa PMAN, as well as a creative centre for training, performances, and mentorship programmes for emerging artists.

The proposed project, located in Obinomba, will stand as a symbol of royal partnership with the entertainment sector and a lasting legacy of cultural investment in Ndokwa Nation.
