Delta sports commission unveils delta queens squad ahead of 2025/2026 NWFL season
With the 2025/2026 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) season set to kick off this weekend, the Delta State Sports Commission has formally presented the Delta Queens squad, signalling the state’s readiness for another year of top-tier women’s football.
During the unveiling ceremony in Asaba, the Commission’s Executive Chairman, Hon. Onoriode Oborevwori, expressed confidence in the team’s readiness for the challenges ahead.
He assured that the state government remains fully committed to supporting the club through a successful campaign, emphasising that the welfare, training needs, and competitive environment of the players will continue to receive priority attention.
Oborevwori highlighted the administration’s sustained efforts to elevate women’s football, describing Delta Queens as a “symbol of pride, resilience, and excellence” whose accomplishments have played a major role in motivating aspiring female footballers across the state.
As the NWFL prepares to commence on November 26, 2025, Delta Queens will open their season with a high-stakes away clash against Nasarawa Amazons, a fixture expected to set the tempo for what promises to be a thrilling and fiercely contested league campaign.
