Shettima to lead high-profile delegation to IPI Nigeria’s 2025 conference

Vice-President Kashim Shettima is set to headline a distinguished lineup of national and international dignitaries at the 2025 Annual Conference and Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the International Press Institute (IPI) Nigeria.
According to a statement released by the organisers on Thursday in Abuja, the two-day event is scheduled to take place from Dec.
2 to 3 at the NICON Luxury Hotel in the Central Business District, underscoring its significance as one of the country’s most prominent media gatherings.
Among the top government officials expected at the conference are the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris; the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Oluwatosin Ajayi; and Professor Abiodun Adeniyi, Registrar of Baze University.
Several notable former senior government officials have also been invited, including former Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed; former presidential spokesperson, Garba Shehu; and Ambassador Lawal Kazaure, a former State Chief of Protocol.
The conference will also draw distinguished media experts and veteran journalists from within Nigeria and abroad.
Among them are the Executive Director of IPI Global, Scott Griffen; former Governor of Ogun State and media icon, Olusegun Osoba; and IPI Global Board member, Raheem Adedoyin.
Presidents of key national media associations are expected to attend, including Maiden Alex-Ibru of the Newspaper Proprietors Association of Nigeria (NPAN); Eze Anaba of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE); Danlami Nmodu of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP); and Comrade Alhassan Abdul, President of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ).
Heads of federal media agencies will also be present.
These include the Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Lanre Issa-Onilu; the Director-General of Voice of Nigeria (VON), Jubrin Baba Ndace; the Director-General of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Mohammed Bulama; the Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Salihu Dembos; and the Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Ali M. Ali.
Other eminent personalities expected at the event include former Director of Information at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Haruna Imrana; former Provost of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ), Gbemiga Ogunleye; Associate Professor Sule Yau Sule of Bayero University, Kano; and PRNigeria Publisher, Yushau Shuaib.
Vice-President Shettima will chair the conference, while Minister Mohammed Idris will deliver a special address.
IPI Global’s Scott Griffen will present a solidarity message from the organisation’s headquarters in Vienna, Austria.
The unveiling of IPI Nigeria’s Book of Infamy will be performed by Prof. Adeniyi, while the President of IPI Nigeria, Musikilu Mojeed, is expected to coordinate a special surprise honorary session as part of the programme.
