The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dennis Guwor, has urged citizens and stakeholders to rally behind Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda, emphasising that the socio-economic progress of the state is a collective responsibility.
The call was made during a meeting at the Assembly complex in Asaba, where Speaker Guwor hosted a non-governmental pressure group, the “Coalition of Academics for Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.”
The group, comprising prominent scholars including former Commissioner for Environment and Works, Omordi George Ugbomah, came to commend the governor’s leadership and offer support for his developmental initiatives.
Addressing the group, Guwor highlighted the importance of unity across political, ethnic, and professional divides.
He said the Delta State government, under Governor Oborevwori, has delivered tangible results and that citizens have a shared responsibility to sustain and build upon these achievements.
“I want to express my sincere appreciation to this group for partnering with the state government in advancing the Renewed Hope for MORE agenda.
“This is not about individuals or offices; it is about the welfare and future of Delta State.
”As legislators, we work closely with other arms of government to ensure that policies and programmes translate into real benefits for our people, ” he said.
Guwor further encouraged the academics to use their expertise and influence to communicate the governor’s achievements and vision across the state and beyond.
He described Governor Oborevwori’s performance as “exceptional” and worthy of recognition, noting that the synergy between the executive and legislative branches has strengthened governance in Delta.
Earlier, the group’s coordinator, Professor Lawrence Omo-Aghoja, praised Speaker Guwor for his energetic and exemplary leadership in the House of Assembly.
The coalition also commended the ongoing collaboration between the legislative and executive arms, urging that this cooperation be maintained to maximize benefits for residents.
The academics reaffirmed their full backing of Governor Oborevwori, citing his commitment to effective governance and transformative development as a model for progress in Delta State.
