APC governors declare full support for Tinubu

The All Progressive Congress, APC, Governors’ Forum (PGF) has passed a sweeping vote of confidence in President Bola Tinubu, pledging unanimous support for his administration and reaffirming their commitment to backing him for a second term in 2027.

The declaration was delivered by PGF Chairman and Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, who read the communiqué issued at the end of a two-day meeting of APC governors and party stakeholders on Saturday in Lagos.

Uzodimma said the forum was fully aligned with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and would continue coordinating policies across APC-controlled states to reinforce the administration’s national reforms.

“The PGF reaffirms its full support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the policies of APC governments at all levels,” the statement said.

The governors urged Nigerians to remain patient amid ongoing economic and security challenges, assuring the public that federal and state governments were implementing “holistic measures” to restore stability.

Governors in attendance included those from Lagos, Kebbi, Edo, Ogun, Ekiti, Ondo, Imo, Sokoto, Akwa Ibom, Delta, Enugu, Kaduna, and Katsina.

Other dignitaries present were Lagos Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat; Speaker Mudashiru Obasa; Senator Tokunbo Abiru; Lagos SSG Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin; GAC Chairman Tajudeen Olusi; members of the State Executive Council; and top APC chieftains.

The PGF, a body of governors elected on the APC platform, also reiterated its mandate to coordinate policies, share best practices, and advance development initiatives across the states.

The communique issued after the meeting focused on several key areas:

1. Governance And National Outlook

The governors reviewed the nation’s economic, political, and social conditions, stressing that every reform must translate into a measurable improvement in citizens’ wellbeing.

They praised President Tinubu for economic stabilization efforts, security improvements, and ongoing investments in food security, power, infrastructure, and social protection.

2. Economic Reforms And Cost-Of-Living Pressures

Acknowledging the hardship caused by major macroeconomic reforms, the forum applauded Nigerians for their resilience and vowed to scale up state-level interventions—particularly in agriculture, SMEs, youth employment, and social protection for vulnerable households.

3. Infrastructure, Urban Renewal, And Inclusive Development

The governors emphasized infrastructure as a catalyst for growth and commended Lagos for advancements in transport and urban renewal.

They committed to expanding roads, housing, public transport, digital connectivity, and climate-resilient infrastructure across the federation.

4. Security And Social Cohesion

The PGF said it was encouraged by improved coordination among security agencies and local structures. It pledged stronger community-based security initiatives, intelligence networks, and crisis prevention strategies.

The governors also urged national unity and cautioned leaders against fueling division through hate speech.

5. Strengthening Local Governance

The forum reiterated that effective local governments are key to delivering the Renewed Hope Agenda at the grassroots, and resolved to enhance transparency, accountability, and public engagement.

Town halls, consultations with traditional institutions, and greater civil society participation were identified as priority tools for citizen engagement.

6. Party Cohesion And 2027 Alignment

The governors reinforced their collective commitment to Tinubu’s agenda and described themselves as custodians of the people’s mandate, responsible for ensuring policies produce tangible results in all APC-controlled states.

The forum expressed confidence in Nigeria’s future as a united and prosperous nation.

It encouraged citizens to remain peaceful, go about their daily activities without fear, and support the administration’s efforts.

The governors extended early holiday wishes and called on Nigerians to uphold values of patriotism, hard work, and mutual respect.

They restated their determination to work with the President, National Assembly, local governments, the private sector, and civil society to deliver justice, opportunity, and shared prosperity.
