President Tinubu reaffirms commitment to religious freedom, peace in Christmas

President Bola Tinubu has once again assured Nigerians of his unwavering commitment to safeguarding religious freedom and protecting citizens from all forms of violence, stressing the need for unity and tolerance across faiths.
In his Christmas message on Wednesday, President Tinubu emphasised that no Nigerian, regardless of ethnicity or religious belief, should suffer for practicing their faith.
He highlighted the shared values of love for God and humanity as central to fostering national cohesion.
“Throughout the year, I have had the privilege of engaging with leaders from Nigeria’s major faith communities to address concerns about religious intolerance and insecurity
“We will continue to strengthen collaboration between government and religious institutions, prevent conflict, and promote peaceful coexistence.”
Since assuming office in 2023, Tinubu noted, his administration has prioritised security, unity, and stability, ensuring that all Nigerians have the right to live, worship, and pursue their aspirations with dignity.
“This commitment remains steadfast under God and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he added.
The President also called on citizens to reflect on the spiritual significance of Christmas beyond festivities, urging Nigerians to embrace the message of Jesus Christ—hope, grace, peace, and goodwill.
He praised the contributions of Christians in Nigeria, highlighting their role in caring for the vulnerable and promoting peace in communities.
“For those who bring hope and faith in the midst of despair, this season reminds us that despite challenges, God is with us,” Tinubu said.
The President further urged caution and discipline for those traveling during the festive season, stressing the importance of road safety and patience.
He called for a stronger, more united Nigeria,“With confidence in divine providence and our collective strength, we will continue the work of building a greater Nigeria—one that future generations will be proud of.
