Tinubu launches APC committee on conflict resolution, mobilisation ahead of 2027 election

President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday officially inaugurated a new All Progressives Congress (APC) committee tasked with strategising, resolving internal conflicts, and boosting party mobilisation in preparation for the 2027 general elections.
The announcement was made in a statement released by the President’s Spokesperson, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, in Lagos.
The committee, according to the statement, is aimed at addressing disagreements within the party and ensuring cohesive and effective mobilisation across all states.
The panel comprises influential figures within the APC, including serving governors, members of the Federal Executive Council, and other key stakeholders.
Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has been appointed Chairman of the committee, while former APC National Legal Adviser, Mr. Muiz Banire, will serve as Member/Secretary.
Other members of the committee include Senator Adamu Aliero; Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, who is also Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum; and Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, the current Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum.
Additional governors on the panel include Hyacinth Alia (Benue), Umar Namadi (Jigawa), Bassey Otu (Cross River), Abiodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), Uba Sani (Kaduna), and Siminalayi Fubara (Rivers). Ministers Adegboyega Oyetola (Marine and Blue Economy) and Bello Matawalle (State for Defence), along with former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, are also members.
At the inauguration, Governor Buni thanked the APC leadership for entrusting the committee with this critical role, noting that the group’s mandate is to develop comprehensive strategies that foster unity and inclusion within the party.
“Our goal is to create a system that gives everyone, especially aggrieved members, a sense of belonging while offering renewed hope,” Buni said.
He emphasised the importance of prioritising the collective interests of the party over personal ambitions and promised that the committee would proactively identify potential challenges and solutions in its approach to conflict resolution.
Earlier this month, President Tinubu highlighted the significance of party cohesion during the APC’s 15th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja.
He called for tolerance and inclusiveness among party members, stating, “We must continue to be resolute that this democracy we hold in our hands must not fail. Our strength lies in being accommodating and resilient.”
The formation of this committee is widely viewed as a strategic step by the APC to consolidate internal harmony and enhance grassroots mobilisation as the party prepares for the next general elections.
